Courses
Business Administration and Economics (Ingeniería Comercial), School of Economics and Business, Universidad de Chile.
A first contact with economic reasoning, covering scarcity, incentives, markets and the role of public policy. The emphasis is on learning to read economic arguments critically rather than on technique.
The second economics course of the common core. Students learn consumer and firm behavior, market equilibrium, elasticity, welfare and market failure. It builds the intuition that later courses formalize.
The first microeconomics course of the Economics major. Students meet the formal treatment of consumer and producer theory, choice under constraints, and partial and general equilibrium.
The first three courses of the degree's mathematics sequence, covering single and multivariable calculus, linear algebra and optimization, taught throughout with applications to economics and management.
Teaching tools
Course assistants I have built with Gemini Gems, so that students have someone to ask at the hour they actually study.
IntroMicroBot A tutor for Introduction to Microeconomics. Students can work through the course material with it outside class hours, ask about concepts they did not follow, and check their reasoning on problems. Currently in beta with my own students.
Mate2Bot A tutor for Mathematics II. It walks students through the steps of a problem rather than handing them the answer, which is where the real difficulty of the mathematics sequence lies.
These assistants are not public. If you are taking a similar course and want to see how they work, or you teach one and want to know how they are built, write to me at fabduarte@fen.uchile.cl.
